Recently, our Gene Editing group at the Institute of Stem Cell Research developedSynthetic Transfer Vehicles (STVs), a programmable protein-based RNA delivery platform that packages defined RNA cargos and delivers them to specific cell types. STVs consist of a synthetic protein that is assembled from natural and AI-designed protein domains, along with an engineered fusogenic protein. The technology has been recognized with them4 Award, the GO-Bio next program, and is currently under revision in a top-tier journal (preprint: 10.21203/rs.3.rs-5123765/v1).
We now aim to translate this platform and create a startup company. To support this effort, we are seeking a highly motivated Scientific Manager (f/m/x) .
Your tasks
- Lead responsibility forfinancial and administrative management; organization ofinstitutional budget planning and financial coordination
- Independent coordination ofacademic recruitment and onboarding of staff, includingpostdocs anddoctoral researchers
- Autonomousmonitoringofthird-party funded budgets of the group and supporting financial steering decisions
- Supervision and mentorship of staff, including postdoctoral fellows and doctoral researchers,with regard toadministrative workflows, operational procedures, and effective coordination of research activities
- Assistancein writing activities such as animal study protocols and grant applications
- Support of activities related to startup development,including market research and the identification of potential investorsincludingimplementationand coordination offundraising activities(academic and private)
- Preparation of research project proposals and collaborative grant applications; interaction with funding agencies
- Preparation of legal scientific documents (e.g., MTAs, cooperation agreements, IP-related materials)andannual reports
Your profile
- Master’s or PhD degree in a bio-related field
- Enthusiasm for supporting high-impact research and translational activities
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in German, as well as good communication skills in English
- Proactive and reliable person with interest in working in a dynamic and highly collaborative group
- Experience in project management, animal protocols writing, grant management, or similar tasks is a plus
If you fulfill all the requirements, you may be eligible for a salary grade of up to E 13. Social benefits are based on the Collective Wage Agreement for Public-Sector Employees (TVöD). This position is for a fixed term of 2 years.
