The German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) is committed to fostering impactful foreign and security policy on a German and European level that promotes democracy, peace, and the rule of law. Since its founding in 1955, the nonpartisan organization’s members and research have continued to shape the debate on foreign policy issues in Germany.

To start on 15/9/2026 or as soon as possible thereafter, and limited to 31/12/2026, we are looking for a Project Manager (m/w/d; 80%, based on E12), Reference Number: 22-2026.

In the Future Orders Project, the DGAP team will bring together experts and policymakers from Germany/EU, Japan, and the Republic of Korea to re-imagine a world order without the United States.

This project seeks to find a space for security-strategy-thinking among German think tankers and policymakers together with key North Asian allies through a combination of research and workshops. The project aims to intensify relationships among German and Japanese and South Korean experts and policymakers, and facilitate multilateral strategies for a potentially positive future absent US leadership.

YOUR TASKS:

  • General administrative and content assistance to run the Future Orders Project, such as preparing invitations, meeting minutes, event concepts, and reports;
  • Supportive events management, including booking accommodation and travel, communication with participants, and catering, with the support of the DGAP events team;
  • Lead on communication activities, website, social media and newsletter management with the support of DGAP communications team;
  • Stakeholder management, liaison with authors and workshop invitees;
  • Research project related topics, drafting summaries and overviews, proofreading texts.

Anforderungsprofil:

YOUR BACKGROUND AND SKILLS:

  • Completed university degree (Bachelor’s) in the fields of political science, international relations or other relevant disciplines;
  • Willingness to travel for business;
  • Previous professional experience and/or work in a similar context is an asset;
  • Reliability, a structured approach, and attention to detail;
  • Ability to work flexibly, in a team;
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications;
  • Strong English skills, intermediate German language skills.
